“Why do most teleprompter apps suck?”
That’s the question I asked myself after testing a lot of prompter apps for my YouTube channel, Ben’s TechLab.
There’s always a catch
Every teleprompter app I tried made me feel like I was settling. Big time. I quickly grew tired of the common limitations:
- Having to pick a “magic number” for your speed
- Not getting true hands-free control while filming hands-on review videos
- Having to take my iPad off the prompter for each mid-shoot edit because I couldn’t sync multiple screens
- Being limited to a “proprietary” remote with cheap buttons that made a loud clicky noise
- Not being able to customize appearance on different screens
These silly constraints are unacceptable in the 21st century, if you ask me.
Meet the founder
Hi, I’m Ben — software architect and video maker
In 2020, I launched my own YouTube channel, Ben’s TechLab. I started publishing review videos, covering hardware, like motherboards, monitors, and power supplies. In one of the videos, my son and I built a Retropie Nintendo Emulator with a Raspberry Pi 4.
It didn’t take long for me to go a little overboard creating the perfect studio. Instead of motherboards, I found myself going down rabbit holes looking for the best studio equipment, video lighting, cameras and lenses, mics, rack mounts and — you guessed it — teleprompters.
And honestly, when it came to teleprompter apps, everything free or affordable was … womp womp — lacking, to say the least. Most apps I tried were a pain in the neck to use. So what did I do? As a career software architect and developer, I created a new one.
Finally, a teleprompter app that gives you full, intuitive control
(Without complicating your workflow. 😉)
Fully control your speed while recording
FluidPrompter has continuously variable scroll speed while prompting. Say good-bye to single speed prompters that force you to pick a magic number.
Sync across multiple devices and locations
FluidPrompter is ready for your distributed crew. Sync your script across multiple devices, even if they’re in different locations. Now everyone can stick to the script or segment agenda.
Pick from the widest variety of controllers
FluidPrompter supports a range of handheld wireless teleprompter Bluetooth controls from AirTurn, Neewer and YC Onion. Paid plan users can use advanced analog foot pedal controls via AirTurn hardware.
